Define the business action
Views, clicks and visits describe activity. They do not automatically describe value. Start by naming a useful business action: a qualified enquiry, a completed activation or a retained customer. Then decide which earlier steps help you understand progress toward that action.
Write down the event definition
Two people can read the same dashboard and mean different things by a conversion. Document when an event is recorded, which cases are excluded and whether it can happen more than once for a person. A small shared measurement plan is often more useful than a large collection of loosely defined events.
Check the journey end to end
Follow a test visitor from the campaign to the relevant action. Verify that the page loads, the form works and the event corresponds to a real outcome. Keep test traffic distinguishable from customer activity so verification does not distort the picture.
Use the numbers to make a decision
A report should support a choice. Explain what changed, what might explain it and what you will test next. Be clear about missing data and attribution uncertainty. A narrower, trustworthy view is a better foundation for action than an impressive-looking dashboard with unclear definitions.
